Evaluatuation Question 4-Frances

4.Who would be the target audience for your media product?

The target audience for our thriller opening is 12-15 year old males, the reason for this is:
  • The age of the young girl character is of a similar age as the target audience, therefore we feel like the audience could in some way relate to the character.
  • Although we used fake blood to make it look like the protagonist had been attacked by the antagonist, that's as gory as it got so it was still suitable for this target audience.
  • There was no nudity or inappropriateness filmed in our thriller however, the scene where the young girl is attacked it does leave the audience suggesting whether something more than just an attack occured. As our thriller is aimed at such a young age range, we felt that they might not understand what is suggested therefore is still appropriate.
I feel that the target audience would thoroughly enjoy our thriller because the story line is easy to follow and the foreshadowing at the beginning and when it cuts to black it leaves the audience in suspense and asking questions. Who is this character? What happened to her?

The Pearl and Dean website is very useful for finding out what target audiences films have aimed for.
