I think I have progressed a lot from the preliminary to the main task. During the planning of the main task I suggested lots of ways in which different camera technical codes could be incorporated into the task such as: graphic match, eye-line matches, panning and tilting, of which panning and tilting was used in the main task. In the preliminary task I was limited to different camera techniques because of the size of the room and because of the length of the task so not a lot could be fitted into a minute.
The camera was mostly static in the preliminary task, mostly at eye level. In the main task the camera was mostly mobile. Also from moving to the main task lighting became more important compared to the preliminary task as shots filmed on different days needed to be done at a similar time so the shots match each other, from this I learned more about working with natural light as opposed to artificial light (classroom lights).
When it came to sound I suggested ways to use sound bridges which we did use in editing to save time in the final piece. Music wasn't hugely important in the preliminary task but was needed in the main task to create suspense and fear. I learned about the different sounds which can be used to create different atmospheres in different scenes.
I learned about how important Mise en Scene is because on the preliminary task Mise en Scene wasn't much of a concern. However, in the main task Mise en Scene was important to establishing characters, locations to match scenarios. The setting was the most important of the Mise en Scene as it meant using the right location and time of day to match what was happening in the scene e.g. a dark forest after the assault to emphasize the loneliness and the fear.

Mise en Scene was also important in deciding the characters costumes to match with the type of person they are. This wasn't considered important in the preliminary task but was regarded as more important in the main task. I often suggested possible costumes based on similar characters. The costume choice was important to make the female character in our thriller seem desirable which would explain the male characters assault on her. This matches with the story of the thriller.
Preliminary characters
In the preliminary task there wasn't really any thought about the characters but was important in the main task so it meant that a story could be made around them. I know that a lot of thought needs to be put into characters so that it gives a real sense of what that character is like and maybe what they are good at and what quirks they have which may affect them later on in a story.
